About Us

With over 29 years of experience on the mat, Professor Darrell Taylor brings a lifetime of dedication, discipline, and service to Like Minded Jiu-Jitsu. A 4th degree black belt and lifelong student of the art, he has spent the last two decades teaching and coaching, helping students of all ages and backgrounds grow both on and off the mat.

Professor Taylor is a retired UPS driver with 31 years of service—an achievement that mirrors his long-standing commitment to consistency, hard work, and personal growth. His journey in Jiu-Jitsu, much like his career, reflects a pattern of perseverance and purpose.

Like Minded Jiu-Jitsu was created to provide a safe, ego-free space where students can train, connect, and evolve. The academy is guided by the belief that Jiu-Jitsu is bigger than any one person—it’s a community. Some students compete, some don’t. We recognize that people come to Jiu-Jitsu for many different reasons—whether it’s for fitness, self-defense, confidence, mental clarity, or competition. Our program is built to support all of those paths equally.

Our mission is to foster a respectful, inclusive environment rooted in discipline, humility, and mutual support. Through mindful training and mentorship, Professor Taylor is building more than martial artists—he’s cultivating character, confidence, and a like-minded culture of respect and resilience.
